We had a great Easter this year. There was a Young Women Fundraiser Saturday and Natalie had a lot of fun hunting for eggs and buying treats at the Easter store. She insisted on bring both Easter baskets and wearing her hat the whole time.

Here she is getting eggs:

She got some pictures taken:

(She’s eating a laffy taffy)

Later that afternoon we dyed eggs with the Budds:

It took about 5 minutes for Natalie to spill one of the dyes and she really enjoyed tossing (literally) the eggs into the dye.

The next day we had an Easter egg hunt in nursery and the snacks were hidden in the eggs, the kids seemed to really enjoy it.

We didn’t give Natalie her Easter basket until after church since Jordan was at meetings before church. When we gave it to her she was really excited about the duck pez dispenser and the lollypop:

Here’s a link to a video of her opening her basket.

We had the Newberry family over for dinner and had turkey breast, rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli and lemon blueberry pound cake for dessert. We didn’t take any pictures of food, oops, but it was all delicious.

Late Sunday afternoon Jordan let Natalie play with a sharpie while she was still in her Easter dress. She came inside and had the sharpie open with two giant streaks across her dress. I was pretty upset that he had given her a sharpie in the first place, but as of today I got almost both stains out. The first one is totally gone and the second one (the bigger of the two) is just a faint mark. Yay!

I’m so grateful we were able to spend Easter as a family and with friends.

What a Difference a Year Makes!

Last year, Natalie was barely eating solid foods, couldn’t crawl, and didn’t talk! (She did lots of interesting things for her age)

This year, she walks, talks, has things she absolutely loves (Disney Princesses, bubbles, and stickers). We played with bubbles and she could use the wand herself :D.

Oh, and she has hair!

Yesterday morning Natalie woke up early and wouldn’t go back to sleep because she was hungry. So I brought her downstairs and she ate breakfast while Jordan got ready for work. She finished and was playing with toys by the time Jordan came downstairs and was ecstatic to see him. She was singing to him and laughing at everything he was doing. She stood by his chair in the dining room and patted his back and just had fun being with Daddy. When it was time for Jordan to leave Natalie had a breakdown, she walked to him and held onto his legs so he couldn’t go. When I picked her up she reached for Jordan and when he opened the garage and got into his car she bawled and kept saying “daddydada.” Pretty sweet how much she loves her daddy.

Later in the day we were watching a video of her cousin Katie meeting her new baby brother for the first time. Natalie loved that video, she kept saying “Dadee” (Katie) and we watched it over and over because she loved it so much. A little time passed and I was chatting with Nicole about the video, so I tried to turn it on again for Natalie, but it wasn’t working. The next best thing is a video of herself, so I turned on this video for her to watch:

Natalie walking to Jordan

Cute, right? NO! Big mistake, check out who is in the background. Natalie started bawling, “daaddydaddydada,” she was SO upset. The good news is that Jordan and I had already planned for him and Natalie to go on a bike ride on the Frisco Highland trail after he got off of work. I was excited to have some alone time and to get things done without Natalie (she’s super cute, but being productive is really hard when she is around).

Jordan and I had packed the bike trailer in his car and I got everything Natalie needed for a fun afternoon with Jordan. So we met Jordan at his work and they were ready to go. I was super productive while they were gone and pretty amazed at how quickly I was able to get things done without Natalie unfolding or throwing stuff.

Jordan came home and told me that they had a fun time and stopped at Culver’s and got ice cream afterward and at Academy to get some bike gloves for him. I asked how the bike ride was and if Natalie was good for him, and he asked Natalie if they should tell me about “the incident.” As you read what happened, remember they were on a designated bike trail (no cars or other vehicles are allowed on it). Apparently has never put the bike trailer on his bike before, I have always done it for him, so this is partly my fault. Bike trailers have a hitch that attaches to the back tire of a bike and a pin that attaches the trailer to the bike (to attach it quickly). Here’s a picture to help:

Jordan thought the center part (the black piece) just slid into the bike part and didn’t put the pin through (oops!). About 3 miles trail they hit a bump and the bike trailer came off his bike and slid off the trail onto grass. Natalie was a bit startled, so she cried, but once Jordan was there, she was fine. Jordan attached the bike trailer (with the pin this time) and they went back to riding. That is how Natalie had her first experience off-roading.

Natalie loves it!

We rode our bikes today on the Frisco Highland Trail this morning, 16  miles! Natalie did great and she even fell asleep on the way back.

Trip to Utah (Second Half)

Mom’s Birthday

We threw mom a surprise party, lots of her friends came as well as people for Jared’s farewell. Nicole made these awesome cake pops for Mom’s Birthday. We also made her a cake that she could eat. Jordan and I got mom Lego Harry Potter Part 1 and Ryan bought another controller so mom and dad could play together.

the bomb bird slid down the stick.

Ryan and Rie watched Rio and watched Carson, Katie, and Natalie. Ryan kept taking Natalie from Rie :).

Natalie was having fun with grandpa

She used to have such fat cheeks!

Saying goodbye for 2 years

After the MTC Natalie and I went and visited the food science professors at BYU.

Friday and Saturday

Friday we hung out at the house and just relaxed.

Natalie and Grandpa

Saturday reading a book in the airport waiting to come home.

We had a super fun time visiting my family. It was so special to be able to be in the temple with everyone, and for Jared to go on a mission. I can hardly believe it has been almost a year since we last saw Jared. That means just one more year to go!

Trip to Utah 8.2011 (First Half)

Wed ,11/07/2012

Natalie got to ride a plane when she was just 6 weeks old! I used to think traveling on an airplane was a ton of fun, but kids kind of kill that. They also make traveling light very difficult. Natalie’s first plane ride wasn’t awful, but we were stuck on the tarmac for 20+ minutes waiting for the green light to take off. She was crying/screaming and it was really sad. We had a super nice flight attendant that said I could stand in the front until we were going to take off. She said that she had 7 kids and that sometimes it’s hard, it was a lot nicer than the “can’t you make your kid shut up” look people sometimes give.

Natalie sleeping in the Denver Airport

My dad met us at the airport and picked us up. It was a tiny airport, so the baggage car just drove out in the front of the airport and brought our luggage out. When we got to my parents house there were a lot of people waiting to meet us (well Natalie).

Natalie meeting Uncle Ryan

Carson and Katie before Church

Walking to Church

Carson was nice enough to share his swing with Natalie, she got so addicted to the swing that we bought one when we came home.

Katie wearing the monkey hat I made Carson:

Monday we went to Babies R Us and mom bought Katie some really cute and girly things. Katie loved the sunglasses and purse, but especially loved the angry birds fruit snacks (Carson loved them too).

Tuesday we went to the museum at Thanksgiving Point.

Katie was way more into the exhibits than Natalie ūüėČ

Natalie and Grandpa Frost

¬†Katie wasn’t sure she wanted to share Nicole.

Natalie kept getting her feet out of her blankets, then got frustrated.

Friday we all got to go to the temple together:

We went to IKEA and on the ride home Katie wanted to hold Natalie’s hand (and use Natalie’s pacifier, at least it was good for one kid).

Emily’s Mom Visiting 8/2011

Wed ,11/07/2012

Here are some pictures of my mom visiting when Natalie was born.

This isn’t from the visit, but it is pretty funny/cute. Now all she wants to do is play with the controllers.

First time Natalie sucked just her thumb (this is very rare)

Grandma Frost after giving Natalie a bath

Natalie on the playmat grandma bought for her (she loved this forever)

Love the crossed eyes!

It was so fun to have my mom visit. One awful thing that happened while she was visiting was that our AC broke and it got to 95 in our house (which means it was even hotter outside). I had a hard time contacting Jordan because his work was bowling  and eventually talked to him, we called a repair guy, and it got fixed (-$800, ouch). Poor little Natalie had a heat rash all over her little body. I was so glad my mom came out, we played lots of Lego Pirates and it was so much easier to travel to Utah (next post) with Natalie with her help.

Natalie Weeks 4-5 (8.4-14.11)

Tue ,10/07/2012

Wow, this post is almost a year late, good thing we take lots of pictures. It’s hard to believe she used to be so small.

Week 4

I still get this look from her

She still plays on the floor with daddy

Week 5

She used to be so little in her car seat!

So tiny in the crib (also, yeah right that I would take a picture of her sleeping  so bundled now)

Ryan calls this “Baby Power” (she still sleeps with her hand over her head sometimes)

8 Months Today!

Mon ,05/03/2012

Natalie is 8 months old today! We can’t believe how fast time is flying and how quickly she is growing up.¬† We sure do love our little girl and are so happy for her to be part of our family.
