Letter from Ryan

HI everyone,
things have been good here we have got some new people to teach and we have high hopes for them. one is a family and the other is a man and his cousin they all seem interested and seemed to understand the lessons well. tracting is a little hard right now because most hispanics don’t like to open their door when it’s cold, sometimes they sen their kids to tell us their sleeping, that’s kindof funny sometimes. it’s mildly annoying but not too bad most of the time they say thing like “my mommy told me to tell you she’s sleeping.” i’ve got the stuff i need for the cold. i’ve been a little sick but its nothing too bad i’ll be better in a day or two. I had to stay in the apartment yesterday by order of the president’s wife so i just kind of rested but i couldn’t sleep so i studied and tried to relax. there are transfers in about a week so i’ll see what happens. Elder Hales thinks i’m going to stay here, but i don’t know, i’ll find out next monday. otherwise things are about the same the dogs are still in the streets, its still windy and things are good around here. Thanksgiving we had dinner with a member family who are really nice, they invited a neighbor over at random who was a little tipsy but he was still very nice and listened and remembered what we said. it was a nice day not to much else has happened otherwise. i hope your all doing great and that everythings all right with you and well i’ll talk to you all in a week.
Love,

Ryan (AKA Elder Frost)

Babysitting

We babysitted Justin and Julie’s kids for a few hours while they went to some work party or something like that. We took them to the little park next to their home. They had a lot of fun and were really excited to play on the playground. Here are a few pictures.

Park City and Carving Pumpkins

We went to Park City with Justin and Julie and their kids. We went to the Outlet Malls and then went out to the Hungry Moose Grill. We had so much fun with them, Ronan especially enjoyed the ranch dressing :D . After we came back from Park City, we went back to Justin and Julie’s house and carved pumpkins. My favorite part was after the kids carved their pumpkins and Ronan and Aspen started to stab the pumpkins with the poker and saws from the pumpkin carving kits. You can’t see it in the picture, but after we lit the candles in the pumpkins, there was light coming out of the parts where they stabbed the pumpkins, making them even spookier! Here are some pictures.

Trip to Pumpkin Patch

Jordan and I went to the pumpkin patch. We wanted to pick out pumpkins that we could carve later this week. It was so much fun! I bought some small gourds and pumpkins to decorate our mantel with. We also bought some tomatoes and onions, and they taste great! I bought a pumpkin to make a pie out of, chances are that the canned pumpkin will taste better, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

Backpacking with Nathan

Nathan (Emily’s brother in law) and I went on a little backpacking up rock canyon. We didn’t go very far because we started late and needed to be back in time for church the next day. As you can see, it snowed on us during the night but we stayed dry and warm the whole night.

The two of us hiking up rock canyon

For a fun date, we went hiking up Rock Canyon.  We actually probably only went a quarter of a mile before we found a nice flat spot to cook dinner.

Babysitting

We babysat Aspen and Ronan while Justin and Julie took the two older kids to go rock climbing by REI. It was pretty unadventurous.

Last visit with Raymond and Amy

Below are some pictures that we took of our last visit with Raymond and Amy. They were really good friends.

Family Reunion

I’m the worst person ever at updating blogs. This is from the end of July and I’m just now posting about it. Well, after Pioneer day (a holiday in Utah) Jordan and I drove up to Orofino (that’s in the Idaho panhandle) to have a family reunion with Jordan’s family. We actually went to visit Jordan’s sister in Coeur d’Alene (even further north). We drove through Utah, then Idaho, and even went through Montana. That was Thursday, and Friday we went to Silverwood with Robin, Taylor, Benson, and Ashton. Too bad most of the time we spend in the park was in the water park, so we didn’t take very many pictures. Anyway Jordan and I went on some roller coasters, and I got scared because my seatbelt came undone on the first one. It was called Timber Terror. So, after that I didn’t want to go on another roller coaster. Jordan went on on called Aftershock, and it looks really scary. The towers go up to 177ft. He was really brave to do it. After we went on the roller coasters, we went to the water park.We had a ton of fun with everyone on the lazy river, and the wave pools. The supposedly kiddy sprinkler part was the most fun of all. Jordan and even went on some water slides. All in all it was a fun day.
The next day, we went to Jordan’s parents’ hotel. We drove down there with Benson and Taylor and when we got there, Jordan’s extended family was already planning a rafting trip down the river, so we went too. It was a lot of fun.
The next day was Sunday, and we went to church with Jordan’s parents. The funniest thing happened. We finished sacrament meeting 15 minutes early. The bishop even cut the last speaker out of the program and we sang only one verse of the hymn. Everyone was confused, so after the meeting, Jordan’s dad went to talk to the bishop to see why he ended the meeting early. Apparently the clock in the back was about 15 minutes fast. And, he was looking at that clock, oops.

Monday, we floated down the river again because it was SO much fun. My favorite thing we did was go to the dam. We actually have pictures of it too :) . Here they are. We went kayaking too.

The rest of the time we played lots of games, and took it easy, it was so nice! We stopped at an Arctic Circle because they had $0.49 ice cream cones and $0.85 hamburgers; the ice cream was heavenly in the hot weather. Here’s some pictures from our drive home.
